Wow, it’s hard to believe that it’s over! Even though it was actually over about a month ago, if you’re like us, you’re still coming down off the adrenaline if you were a part of Startup Weekend 2014!
What a great event… We had nine great teams finish, with great and viable pitches. In case you missed it, a quick recap…
Participants were judged based on the following criteria:
1. Business Model – Customer Validation and acquisition strategy, Revenue model, Partnerships defined, Rollout strategy
2. Technical – Is there a functional prototype (e.g.in the case of an app, did they build one)?
3. Design – UX, Graphic design, Does it deliver a compelling and captivating user experience? What key insights were gathered over the weekend to go in the chosen creative direction?
Our goal was to put together a valuable prize package that would help the winning team continue what they started during the weekend if they choose. We believe that we lined up some great opportunities for them to do just that…

The Final Presentations
A total of nine ideas were presented by teams ranging from two to seven members. Here is a recap of each team:
Barley Box – a subscription service “for Ohio craft beer lovers, by Ohio craft beer lovers” – @BarleyBox
Mem Care – an app that helps caretakers keep track with Alzheimer’s patient whereabouts using BLE
Cleveland Laundry Soap – a homemade, three-ingredient laundry soap for health conscious consumers to be offered in local markets
CampusMonkey – a service network for college campuses
Crewd – an app that will allow rowers to keep track of their rowing workouts—instead of writing them on paper
Wulfpack – an app that allows individuals looking for pickup games to send out a “Howl” and meet at a “den” at courts around various neighborhoods @wulfpackapp
Open Salons – similar to Opentable.com, but for stylists to fill open chairs in Salons
Hotel Hounds – a network of hotel pet sitters for pet owners who travel with their pets – @HotelHoundz
The Hero Within You – a nonprofit organization that will help promote technology and literacy for children
